Be Found Online: 3 Easy Steps To Control Your Business Listing

By October 16, 2020Website

Making sure your business is listed correctly, on as many online directories as possible, will help build your ranking among search engines. Keeping your listing accurate ensures customers will find you when they search online. Here are three easy tips to get you started.

1. Google Yourself.

Search for your business online and make note of what you find. Where does your website show up? Are your listings and social sites there? How do your meta title and description read? Do you need to edit them?

If you haven’t already done it, claiming your local listing on Google is pretty straight forward and shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. To claim or create your Google Business listing:

  • Create your Google My Business account or log in with an existing account.
  • The account you use will be tied to this business (and any other business you decide to add) so don’t lose the info.
  • Once logged in, you will be walked through the process of claiming your listing which may – if you can believe it – include a postcard verification to prove you are the rightful owner of the business.

2. Check Yourself.

Once you are listed it’s important to check all of your listings to make sure they include the right information including: proper business name, phone number, hours of operation and relevant pictures. Other things to be considered: How do your reviews look? Does anything need to be addressed?

3. Be Social.

Make sure all your social media pages are properly linked through your Google My Business account. Linking your social pages to your website will help those links display more prominently in search results and increase your online presence. These links actually help users find your site when they search for you organically on Google. Basically, it legitimizes your business so it’s also a good idea to make sure you have some good content on these pages too – most consumers will check out your social pages just as often as your website.

Being in control of your listings will not only improve your rankings but will also ensure an excellent user experience for potential customers. If you need help getting started, we can help.
